A gusty day today.

Our weather vaneI awoke to dead quiet at 3:30 this morning –not a normal thing for this time of year as there is always the sound of the wind or rain. I didn’t have to wait too long before the rain came pelting down. I lay in bed awhile absorbing the sound before rising. I’ve been sick the last few days — consequentially I don’t sleep well and once awake I can’t drop off again. Poor me.

Once up, I chased the cats outside –they’d been busy scratching the furniture and leaving clumps of hair on the carpet. Probably retaliation for locking them out for a few days after Ripley made an aggressive move on F. (the cats and I have been fighting a pitched battle since we moved here 10 months ago.) Wandering into the kitchen, I fired up my Tea and checked the weather station readings –big winds and rain overnight.

When we moved into this house we found a not well placed weather vane mounted on the railing of the deck. I’ve never got around to removing or moving it so there it stays –I tend to rely on the Oregon Scientific weather station I installed to tell me what’s going on weather-wise, but it’s still nice to check out the old tech vane for nostalgia.

Later, as the skies grew lighter, I watched the clouds scud across the sky and the gulls soaring way up. Whitecaps and large waves  were visible at the entrance of Cadboro Bay.

I sense a change in me coming –the weather changes so much, why shouldn’t I? I feel inspired to build and create. Perhaps that doc I want to do… or write that award winning novel I have tucked away in the back of my mind… or get going on the restaurant.
